Missouri City residents along Robinson Road will see new pavement and water lines after the City Council approved a $1.52 million reconstruction contract Monday, Oct. 5.
The deal with Houston-based ARS Construction LLC covers the stretch from El Dorado Boulevard to Golden Hills Lane, the first phase of a broader Robinson Road rebuild, as first reported by Community Impact Newspaper.
Public Works Director Mustafa Albassam said the existing pavement has "reached its useful life." A city study identified the El Dorado-to-Golden Hills segment as being in the worst condition along Robinson Road, which is why staff prioritized it for the initial phase.
The project will also replace water lines beneath the roadway, Albassam said.
Bond program background
City records tag the contract as part of a bond program. On May 18, Albassam presented proposed bond projects to the council, covering project categories, funding details and expected community benefits. The council voted 7-0 to direct staff to move forward with the program, according to meeting minutes.
Councilmember Brown-Marshall made the motion, seconded by Councilmember Thompson. Council members Elackatt, Clouser, Riley, Ouderkirk and Emery also voted yes.
City held public meeting Oct. 7
The city held a public meeting Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 6 p.m. in the Emergency Operations Center Training Room at 3849 Cartwright Road to discuss the Robinson Road construction. The meeting notice had encouraged residents living on Robinson Road or in surrounding areas to attend.
That meeting also addressed plans related to Halloween crowd management in the area, though the city has not detailed the connection between the construction project and Halloween traffic.
What residents don't know yet
The city has not announced a construction start date, expected completion timeline or details about lane closures and detour routes during the work. The scope and timeline for additional phases of Robinson Road reconstruction beyond this first segment have also not been disclosed.
