Registration and mail ballots
Texas does not offer online voter registration. Residents must complete a paper application and return it to the Fort Bend County Elections Office by Monday, Oct. 5. The deadline to apply for a ballot by mail is Friday, Oct. 23. Applications must be received, not just postmarked, by that date.
Fort Bend County had 43,375 voters on the state suspense list as of March 2026, according to Fox 26. Voters on that list remain registered and can vote by completing a statement of residence form at the polls.
What to bring
Texas requires a photo ID to vote. Acceptable forms include a Texas driver's license, a Texas personal ID card, a Texas election ID certificate, a Texas handgun license, a U.S. military ID with photo, a U.S. citizenship certificate with photo or a U.S. passport.
What's on the ballot
The Nov. 3 midterm includes the U.S. Senate race between Ken Paxton and James Talarico, the governor's race between Greg Abbott and Gina Hinojosa, and all 38 Texas U.S. House seats. Stafford-area voters will also decide Fort Bend County races. The Journal has published candidate profiles for the Fort Bend DA race, the Fort Bend Precinct 2 commissioner seat and House District 28.
Voters can check their registration status and find their sample ballot through the Fort Bend County Elections Office website.
