Five Fort Bend County districts in the Texas House of Representatives are on the Nov. 3 ballot, and early voting runs through Friday, Oct. 30.

The races include House District 27, which covers Missouri City and Fresno, according to the Houston Chronicle's voter guide. That seat pits Republican Max Alalibo against Democratic incumbent Ron Reynolds.

Reynolds, a Missouri City Democrat, has represented HD27 for 15 years, according to a Texas House Democratic Caucus post. Houston Public Media identified him as chair of the Texas Legislative Black Caucus. The Democratic Caucus called him Fort Bend County's first Black state representative since Reconstruction.

Alalibo, listed in some voter-guide records under the full name Ibifrisolam Max-Alalibo, previously ran as a Republican candidate for the same district in 2024, according to a candidate profile site. His professional background and 2026 campaign priorities were not available in public sources reviewed for this article.

HD28: Gates vs. Ibanez

In neighboring House District 28, which includes portions of Sugar Land and Richmond, Republican incumbent Gary Gates faces Democrat Sandy Ibanez.

Gates built a career in real estate development, construction and investment before entering politics, according to the candidate profile site. He has focused on lower taxes, business growth and infrastructure in the Legislature.

Ibanez is a Fort Bend County native who graduated from Bush High School and holds degrees from the University of Houston and Western Governors University, according to her campaign website. She has worked as a Fort Bend ISD teacher and in commercial real estate.

In a questionnaire published by Community Impact, Ibanez listed public education funding, healthcare access, affordability and infrastructure among her priorities. She noted that Fort Bend County is expected to surpass one million residents by the end of 2026.

Her campaign site lists endorsements from the Texas Gulf Coast Area Labor Federation, Texas American Federation of Teachers (Texas AFT), Annie's List and the Texas Progressive Caucus.

Three more Fort Bend districts

House District 26, covering parts of Katy and Richmond, features Republican incumbent Matt Morgan against Democrat Elizabeth "Eliz" Markowitz. Morgan worked in technology and business operations before entering the Legislature, according to the candidate profile site.

House District 85, a largely rural district spanning Waller County, parts of Fort Bend County and other counties, pits Republican Dennis "Goose" Geesaman against Democrat Lawrence Brandyburg. Geesaman is a retired U.S. Air Force lieutenant colonel and former mayor of Flatonia. He defeated incumbent Stan Kitzman in the 2026 Republican primary, according to the profile site.

House District 76 rounds out the slate. Republican Linda Howell faces Democratic incumbent Suleman Lalani.

All 150 Texas House seats are up this cycle. Winners serve two-year terms and will represent their districts during the Legislature's 2027 regular session, according to Click2Houston. The races on each voter's ballot depend on their registered address. Early voting ends Friday, Oct. 30.
