Missouri City Council awarded a $1.59 million contract to ARS Construction LLC to reconstruct Kingsbrook Lane near the Quail Valley Town Center.

The road has reached the end of its useful life, according to city agenda documents. The project, first reported by Community Impact Newspaper, covers Kingsbrook Lane from Cartwright Road to Cypress Point Drive.

Council members approved the deal at their Monday, Oct. 19, meeting.

The work will repave the road and sidewalks and replace water lines. The stretch borders the Cornerstone and Asian-American Baptist churches near the town center, giving the project a visible footprint in one of Missouri City's established neighborhoods.

Money for the reconstruction comes from the city's 2021 bond program. Voters approved that $85.85 million bond referendum in November 2021. Nearly $51.62 million was allocated to street reconstruction and mobility projects, $11.22 million for facilities and about $23.02 million for parks, according to Community Impact's February 2023 reporting on bond progress.

The Kingsbrook Lane contract is the second road project the council has handed to ARS Construction this month. On Oct. 5, council approved a $1.52 million contract with the Houston-based firm for the first phase of Robinson Road reconstruction from El Dorado Boulevard to Golden Hills Lane, Community Impact reported.

Public Works Director Mustafa Albassam said during the Robinson Road discussion that the existing pavement had "reached its useful life." City staff prioritized that stretch in phase one because a study showed it was in the worst condition.

Together, the two October contracts total roughly $3.11 million in bond-funded road work awarded to the same contractor in a span of two weeks.

No construction start date or timeline for Kingsbrook Lane appeared in the available agenda documents. Residents seeking project updates can contact the Missouri City Public Works Department.
