The Bridge Pantry will hand out free food, bottled water and other essentials to up to 400 Missouri City-area families at a drive-thru Resource Rally on Thursday, Oct. 22.
The distribution runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Carey's Frozen Delights, 2603 Cartwright Rd. The local business is providing the venue. Supplies go on a first-come, first-served basis, according to the event listing on the Missouri City Area Chamber of Commerce website.
Feed the Children and Niagara Cares are sponsoring the rally. A live DJ and community resource vendors will also be on site.
The Bridge Pantry is a Missouri City nonprofit based at 2714 Cypress Point Dr. It provides year-round food support and helps families navigate programs such as SNAP, Medicaid and Medicare, according to the organization's website. The pantry's Missouri City location also offers homeless packs seven days a week.
The nonprofit involves students in its operations under the motto "Youth Serving Community, One Shelf at a Time." It serves Missouri City, Angleton and surrounding communities through food distribution, family intake and resource assistance.
The rally comes as food assistance demand across the Houston metro area is shifting. About 155,000 fewer people were eligible for SNAP benefits in the region from June 2025 to June 2026, according to a Rice University Kinder Institute for Urban Research analysis reported by Houston Public Media in August. That dropped enrollment to its lowest level since January 2022. Those figures cover the broader metro area, not Missouri City alone.
Families planning to attend are encouraged to complete The Bridge Pantry's intake form at thebridgepantry.com before Oct. 22 so organizers can prepare. Registering on Eventbrite does not guarantee supplies will be available.
Volunteers are still needed. Sign-up information is available at thebridgepantry.com. Organizations interested in providing resources or services at the rally can text Shell Hebert, The Bridge Pantry's contact, at 346-552-1623.
