Fort Bend ISD's water polo season is already in the water, and the district is inviting families to the stands.
Fort Bend ISD Athletics posted on X on Friday, Aug. 14, encouraging community members to catch games this fall. The FBISD Aquatics Instagram account announced Aug. 10 that water polo season is back, directing fans to Don Cook Natatorium for Tuesday and Friday night games.
The season is open to the public.
At least six FBISD high schools field water polo teams: Fort Bend Clements, Fort Bend Austin, Fort Bend Bush, Ridge Point, Elkins and Travis. The season runs from late July through Oct. 31, according to Fort Bend Travis High School's athletics page. Clements opened its schedule Aug. 7, falling to Fort Bend Austin 14-10, and hosted George Ranch on Aug. 11, the same day the 2026-27 school year began across the district.
Don Cook Natatorium is listed as a primary venue, though some games take place at school campuses. Spectators should note that all FBISD athletic facilities enforce a clear bag policy.
District investing in aquatic programs
The district has been putting money behind its aquatic sports. In June, the FBISD Board of Trustees approved a $25.76 million construction contract with Satterfield & Pontikes Construction for a new aquatic practice facility, part of the district's bond program.
In an Aug. 4 district profile, Executive Director of Athletics Derick Roberson said his focus is on building on the district's foundation, supporting coaches and creating an athletic experience that helps students succeed. Fort Bend ISD was also named a Texas Way District of Distinction for the second consecutive year in June, one of only 39 districts recognized statewide for sportsmanship and positive school spirit.
