Fort Bend ISD families with four-year-olds can still grab a seat in the district's pre-kindergarten program, including bilingual Spanish classrooms at several Missouri City-area elementary schools.

The district announced on X on Thursday, Aug. 6, that pre-K4 spots remain available across the district. The first day of school is Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Who qualifies

Children must turn four on or before Sept. 1, 2026, live within Fort Bend ISD boundaries and meet at least one state eligibility requirement to attend free pre-K4. Families who don't meet the state criteria can still enroll in tuition-based pre-K4 at designated campuses on a first-come, first-served basis, according to the district's 2026-27 pre-K school list.

Bilingual option

The bilingual Spanish pre-K program uses a One-Way Dual Language model with 90% Spanish instruction and 10% English. Missouri City and Stafford-area campuses offering the program include Armstrong, Barrington Place, Colony Bend, Goodman, Heritage Rose, Holley, Mission and Townewest elementary schools.

The district posted its enrollment announcement in Spanish as well, reaching Spanish-speaking families directly.

Program results

Fort Bend ISD shared end-of-year data in June showing 87% of pre-K4 students were on track in early literacy and 94% were on track in math, both exceeding district goals and outperforming prior years.

What families should know

FBISD operates 42 pre-K sites districtwide. No hard enrollment deadline has been announced, but with the first day of school on Aug. 11, open seats could fill quickly.
