The Marshall Buffalos football program added new athletes to its roster Saturday, Aug. 8, the third wave of incoming players the Missouri City school has welcomed in a week as fall camp ramps up ahead of the 2026 season.

Thurgood Marshall High School's official account posted photos of the newcomers on X, greeting them with the program's signature "Welcome to the Herd" message. The school posted similar announcements on Aug. 2 and Aug. 7, signaling a busy stretch of roster building as the Fort Bend ISD school year opens Tuesday, Aug. 11.

The steady stream of additions comes as Marshall prepares for a season with high expectations. Houston InsideHighSchoolSports picked the Buffalos No. 2 in District 11-5A Division II in its preseason predictions, behind only the Crawford Chargers. The two teams are set to meet on Halloween in what the outlet framed as a marquee district matchup.

As we reported in our area preseason roundup, Marshall spotlighted senior cornerback Dylan Waters on Aug. 5 as a player to watch heading into the fall. Waters is one of the returning names the program has highlighted alongside its incoming class.

Fort Bend ISD athletes from Marshall, Ridge Point, Elkins and other district programs gathered July 27 for a Student Athlete Leadership Summit, a district event ahead of the new school year that brought together players across sports.

The new faces will have little time to settle in. Fall camp is already underway, and the Buffalos open the 2026 regular season on the road at Brenham on Friday, Aug. 28. That non-district contest gives Marshall a chance to test its revamped roster before district play begins.

No additional schedule details beyond the Brenham opener have been announced publicly.
