Fort Bend Marshall beat Rosenberg Terry 35-14 on Thursday, Oct. 8, in a District 11-5A Division II game at Missouri City.
The win pushed the Buffalos to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in district play. Marshall now sits second in UIL 5A-2 Region III District 11, according to MaxPreps.
The Buffalos haven't lost since September.
Marshall opened the 2026 season with a 32-7 win over Ball on Aug. 28 but dropped back-to-back games to Fort Bend Travis (45-20 on Sept. 5) and Crosby (34-14 on Sept. 11). A 42-13 rout of Dayton on Sept. 19 started the current three-game streak. The Buffalos followed with a 15-8 district win at Victoria West on Sept. 25 before handling Terry by three touchdowns.
Over those three victories, Marshall has outscored opponents 92-35.
The turnaround comes in head coach Wale Okunnu's first season leading the program. Okunnu, a graduate of Alief Taylor High School, was hired in March after 14 years coaching in Alief ISD, including eight seasons as defensive coordinator at Alief Taylor. He began his coaching career at Albright Middle School in 2012, according to Texas HS Football.
"It was too good of an opportunity to pass up," Okunnu said in March after being named head coach. "Marshall with its tradition, the type of athletes they have there … and just the community pride, they really love their Buffaloes."
Marshall has reached the playoffs in each of the past 10 seasons and made back-to-back state title game appearances in 2018 and 2019. The Buffalos went 6-4 last year, their fewest wins since 2015. Through the first six games of the 2026 season, Marshall has scored 158 points and allowed 121.
The Buffalos travel to Lamar Consolidated on Friday, Oct. 16, for their next district matchup. Marshall then hosts Fort Bend Kempner on Thursday, Oct. 22, visits Almeta Crawford on Saturday, Oct. 31, and closes the regular season at home against Tomas on Saturday, Nov. 7.
