Missouri City Mayor Robin J. Elackatt will outline the city's economic development wins and future priorities at the 2026 State of the City Address on Friday, Sept. 25, at Quail Valley Golf Club, 2880 La Quinta Dr.

The ticketed event runs from 6 to 8 p.m., with a social hour starting at 5 p.m. Tickets range from $71.21 to $855.50 and must be purchased by Wednesday, Sept. 23, through Eventbrite.

The city announced the address Friday on X, saying Elackatt will discuss the city's accomplishments and priorities for continued growth. The theme is "70 Years of Progress, Purpose and Possibility," marking Missouri City's 70th anniversary of incorporation.

The address follows a stretch of visible commercial activity along Missouri City's key corridors. The city's Economic Development Department highlights four investment areas: the Texas Parkway/US-90A corridor, Sienna, the Fort Bend Parkway area and the Highway 6/FM 1092 retail corridor, according to the city's economic development site.

The $35 million Edison Cultural Arts Center held its Phase 2 ribbon-cutting Jan. 5 in front of more than 200 community members, developers and elected officials. Amazon filed plans for a 137,000-square-foot upgrade at its Missouri City distribution center, disclosed in state licensing records in November 2025.

Seven new businesses opened in the Sugar Land-Missouri City area as of January 2026, including Grain & Berry, an acai bowl and smoothie shop, according to the city's economic development news page.

The city has not released a detailed agenda for the address. The event is organized by the City of Missouri City, and the city offers Chapter 380 reimbursement incentive programs to support new business development along its commercial corridors.
