The Missouri City Recreation & Tennis Center will shut its doors for a full week starting Monday, Aug. 17, as city crews tackle the facility's annual deep cleaning, equipment inspections and improvements.
The closure runs through Sunday, Aug. 23. The center, at 2701 Cypress Point Drive, reopens Monday, Aug. 24.
The city announced the shutdown Aug. 7 on X, giving gym members, tennis players and program participants 10 days' notice. Staff will use the week for essential maintenance and facility upgrades before the center reopens to the community, the city said.
The closure is annual.
The timing lands one week after Fort Bend ISD and Stafford ISD students return to class on Tuesday, Aug. 11, a stretch when many families are shifting from summer routines to fall schedules. Residents who use the center's three indoor courts, two outdoor courts or fitness amenities will need to plan around the gap.
The closure is separate from the ongoing LED lighting project at Community Park, which has limited sports-field access through the end of August on a different timeline.
