Ridge Point quarterback Brody Bartee has spent his summer splitting time between the weight room, the film room and the classroom, all building toward the Panthers' season opener Friday, Aug. 28, at Dickinson.

"I go to a speed trainer, a strength coach as well, and also just schoolwork," Bartee told ABC13 on Monday. "I've been doing summer school so I can graduate early for next year."

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound senior is one of several top Houston-area signal-callers training at JP Tillman's Dot's and Dimes Camp, where the longtime quarterback developer emphasizes mechanics and mental composure under pressure. Bartee, a Florida Atlantic commit, is part of a 2027 class that already includes Panthers wide receiver Suhaib Ramseur, also pledged to FAU.

Ridge Point enters the season ranked No. 15 in the Class 6A state preseason poll, according to the Houston Chronicle, carrying a 44-game district winning streak. That's the longest active run in the Houston area. Head coach Rick LaFavers' program has won six consecutive district titles and sent nine players to FBS programs after last season.

The Panthers' defense returns eight starters from a unit that allowed just 12 points per game in 2025 and only 10.2 per game in their 11 victories. Linebacker Aaron Williams, a North Carolina commit whose uncle is former University of Texas and Kansas City Chiefs star Derrick Johnson, earned a spot on the Touchdown Club of Houston's All-Greater Houston preseason team.

On offense, Bartee and Ramseur give the Panthers continuity at the skill positions. Dave Campbell's Texas Football ranks Ridge Point's roster as the third most talent-rich in the state, behind only North Crowley and Allen.

The Panthers also feature 2030 running back Adrian Peterson Jr., a freshman who already holds early offers from Florida State, Miami, SMU and Texas Tech.

Bartee is taking summer courses to graduate early, freeing his spring semester before enrolling at FAU. For Ridge Point, the payoff starts at 7 p.m. Friday when the Panthers travel to Vitanza Stadium to face No. 10 Dickinson in a matchup of ranked 6A programs.

The home opener follows Thursday, Sept. 3, when Shadow Creek visits Mercer Stadium at 7 p.m. Ridge Point then travels to Bridgeland on Thursday, Sept. 10, with a 6:30 p.m. kickoff at Pridgeon Stadium.
