Ridge Point's preseason football scrimmage against Cy-Ranch on Thursday, Aug. 20, is pulling double duty: a tune-up for the Panthers and a fundraiser for Texas student-athletes and coaches in financial need.

The Missouri City program is participating in the Texas High School Coaches Association's "Our Day to Shine" campaign, a statewide initiative that funnels donations into the THSCA Benevolence Fund. The fund assists student-athletes and coaches experiencing extreme hardships.

Ridge Point's football program announced its participation on X on Aug. 20, asking fans to treat a Venmo donation as their "ticket to the game." Donations go to @THSCAcoaches on Venmo.

The effort is bigger than one scrimmage.

The THSCA, which calls itself America's largest coaches association with more than 28,000 members, asked all fall sports coaches across Texas to host "Our Day to Shine" scrimmages this preseason. Multiple programs held fundraising games the same day, including Dickinson ISD against Pasadena Memorial and Goliad ISD against London.

According to the statewide program's guidelines, donors should include their school and sport in the Venmo comment so the contribution is credited to the correct program.

Ridge Point enters 2026 as one of the Houston area's most consistent programs. The Panthers have won 11 district championships since 2014, including six consecutive titles from 2020 through 2025.

Fans who want to support the Panthers' participation in "Our Day to Shine" can send donations to @THSCAcoaches on Venmo and note "Ridge Point" and "football" in the comment field. The THSCA Benevolence Fund distributes money to programs and individuals across the state throughout the school year.
