East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry, the Stafford-based nonprofit that feeds families and provides emergency financial help across eastern Fort Bend County, received a formal recognition from Fort Bend County Judge Daniel Wong on Aug. 19 for 35 years of service.
Wong announced the honor on his official county X account, noting the ministry's work supporting families in Fort Bend and Stafford with food assistance, financial aid and community outreach.
The ministry operates out of 435 Stafford Run Road, where its Interfaith Food Pantry provides customized grocery orders to residents facing financial hardship, according to the ministry's website. Orders include fresh foods, pantry staples, Kid Sacks and Birthday Bags for children, covering roughly three to four days of food per household. No appointment is needed.
The pantry is open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., plus select Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m.
Beyond food, the ministry offers emergency financial assistance for mortgage payments, utilities and rent. Payments go directly to the creditor and are limited to once per 12-month period. Residents can call 281-261-5470 on Tuesdays between 10 a.m. and noon to schedule an appointment.
Next door at 425 Stafford Run Road, the ministry runs the East Fort Bend Resale Shop, open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proceeds fund the pantry and financial assistance programs.
Around the anniversary, the ministry held a birthday celebration and dual ribbon-cuttings with both Fort Bend chambers, attended by staff and board members.
The ministry is also part of Fort Bend LINC, a collaborative of nonprofit and government partners that provides rental assistance through a centralized application system.

The ministry's 9th Annual OutRun Hunger 5K & Family Walk is set for Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Harvest Green Farmhouse in Richmond. The event has previously drawn more than 700 runners and spectators. Registration is open at runsignup.com/Race/TX/Richmond/5KOutRunHunger.
