Ridge Point is 6-2 and in second place in District 21-6A varsity volleyball, according to standings Fort Bend ISD Athletics posted on X on Monday, Oct. 5.

The Panthers are 22-15 overall and trail first-place Fort Bend Austin in the district race. Ridge Point, coached by L. Crite, won five straight district matches before dropping a 3-2 decision at Austin on Friday, Oct. 2, according to MaxPreps.

That five-set loss was the second time Austin beat Ridge Point this season. The Bulldogs also won 3-1 on Sept. 8 in Missouri City. Ridge Point's Leslie Wooten led the Panthers with 21 kills in that earlier match. Kayla Johnson recorded 24 assists and Lauryn Davis anchored the defense with five blocks, according to a MaxPreps recap.

Ridge Point hosts Fort Bend Hightower on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 6 p.m., then travels to Fort Bend Bush on Thursday, Oct. 8.

Elkins sits fourth at 3-4

Fort Bend Elkins is 3-4 in district and 18-16 overall, placing the Knights fourth in 21-6A, according to MaxPreps.

The Knights are on a two-game losing streak after falling 3-1 to Fort Bend Clements on Friday, Oct. 2. Elkins' district wins include a 3-1 victory over Fort Bend Hightower on Sept. 15 and a 3-0 sweep of Fort Bend Bush on Sept. 18.

Ridge Point swept Elkins 3-0 on Sept. 24 in their first district meeting. The two Missouri City schools meet again on Friday, Oct. 23.

Marshall winless in 22-5A

Fort Bend Marshall competes in District 22-5A, not 21-6A. The Buffalos are 0-10 in district play and 8-17 overall, according to MaxPreps.

Marshall has lost 11 straight matches. The Buffalos' most recent result was a 3-1 home loss to Almeta Crawford on Friday, Oct. 2.

Marshall travels to Terry on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 5:30 p.m.
