Elkins running back Tyson Craft earned offensive player of the week honors after the Knights rolled past Fort Bend Bush 24-6 on Friday, Sept. 25, to open district play.
The Elkins football program announced the Week 5 awards on Tuesday, Sept. 29, also naming Omosefe Ayemere and Jono Bailey co-defensive players of the week. The defense limited Bush to a single score in the district opener.
Craft is a senior running back listed at 5-foot-9 and 190 pounds. He posted a highlight reel from the game on his X account on Monday, Sept. 28, celebrating the team's return to the win column.

The victory snapped a two-game skid for Elkins. The Knights lost 42-35 at Clear Falls on Thursday, Sept. 10, then fell 40-0 to Fort Bend Hightower on Thursday, Sept. 17, before bouncing back against Bush. Elkins has now won three of its last four games at home, according to MaxPreps.
Elkins sits at 2-3 overall and 1-0 in district, ranked third in the district standings. The Knights opened the season with a 38-35 loss at Mayde Creek on Aug. 28 before beating Dawson 37-13 on Sept. 4. The Bush win gave the program momentum heading into the heart of the district schedule.
Individual stat lines for Craft, Ayemere and Bailey were not included in the program's announcement.
What's ahead
The Knights travel to Fort Bend Travis on Friday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. for their second district game. After that, Elkins hosts Ridge Point on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 6 p.m. The Ridge Point matchup pits two Missouri City schools against each other in a district contest.
Elkins then visits Strake Jesuit on Friday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. and hosts Fort Bend Clements on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 7 p.m. The regular season closes at Fort Bend Austin on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m.
