Students at Ridge Point, Elkins and Marshall high schools are using new and renovated fine arts facilities, Fort Bend ISD announced Tuesday, Sept. 8.

The upgrades are among the first visible returns from the district's $1.26 billion bond package, which voters approved in May 2023. Proposition A, the largest slice at $1.18 billion, funded major construction and facility projects across the district.

All three campuses serve Missouri City-area families. The district has not released a detailed breakdown of what was built or renovated at each school.

The fine arts work arrives as both Elkins and Ridge Point earned A or B ratings in the Texas Education Agency's 2026 accountability scores. Across the district, 83% of Fort Bend ISD high schools hit that mark, according to the district's announcement on X in August.

Fort Bend ISD's arts programs have collected national recognition in recent months. The district earned its 20th Best Communities for Music Education designation on June 26. The Texas Educational Theatre Association named Fort Bend ISD an Exemplary District on June 22.

During the 2025–26 school year, FBISD students earned top finishes at regional, state and national competitions in band, choir, orchestra, theatre and visual arts.

The bond program carries financial pressure. The district's 2026–27 budget includes a $32.8 million shortfall, according to Community Impact. The Board of Trustees, led by President Kristin Tassin, voted 7-0 on June 15 to approve the use of 2023 Bond Program contingency funds, according to board meeting minutes.

A bond overview was presented to trustees at a June 8 called meeting.

Also on Sept. 8, the district announced it earned an A through the state's School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas, known as FIRST. The rating is the highest a Texas school district can receive for financial accountability, according to the district.

Fort Bend ISD has not announced a date for its next public bond update.
