Students in Stafford and Missouri City get out early Thursday, Sept. 24, and have no school Friday, Sept. 25. Both Stafford Municipal School District and Fort Bend ISD are observing Fort Bend County Fair Day as the 90th annual fair kicks off this week.

Stafford MSD posted the schedule reminder on X on Monday, Sept. 21, confirming the early dismissal and full day off. The district serves about 3,600 students across campuses in Harris and Fort Bend counties. Specific dismissal times by grade level were not included in the post.

Fort Bend ISD also observes the holiday. A Rosa Parks Elementary calendar listing shows Fort Bend County Fair Day on Sept. 24 as an all-day event affecting Dulles, Hightower, Marshall and Travis high schools. Marshall High School is the FBISD campus in Missouri City's 77489 zip code. No separate FBISD announcement detailing exact early-dismissal times was found in public records as of publication.

Friday is a full day off.

The schedule change lines up with the start of the Fort Bend County Fair, which opens with a sneak peek night Thursday, Sept. 24, before its full 10-day run from Sept. 25 through Oct. 4, according to CultureMap Houston. This year marks the fair's 90th anniversary.

Fort Bend County Judge Daniel Wong previewed the milestone on X on Sept. 3, describing the event as nine decades of agriculture, youth, families and Fort Bend tradition.

Parents who need specific dismissal times for their child's campus should check their school's website or contact the front office. The next scheduled school day after the holiday is Monday, Sept. 28.
