Marshall's varsity volleyball team fell to Dulles in straight sets Tuesday, Sept. 29, dropping the Buffalos to 0-10 in UIL 5A district play.

The 3-0 loss at The Flagship, Dulles High School's gym in Sugar Land, marked the third time this season the Vikings have beaten Marshall. Dulles swept the Buffalos 3-0 in a district match on Tuesday, Aug. 25, at Marshall's gym, then took a 2-1 tournament win on Saturday, Aug. 29. Marshall has not taken a set from Dulles in either district meeting.

Head coach G. Toussant's Buffalos sit at 8-17 overall and ninth in the district standings, according to MaxPreps. Marshall has played 10 district matches without a win.

The Buffalos' district includes Dulles, a program that dropped from Class 6A to 5A in the latest UIL realignment cycle. The Vikings posted an enrollment of 2,142, as the Houston Chronicle reported. Dulles, coached by J. Vanderbilt, improved to 18-8 overall and 6-5 in district after Tuesday's win, placing them sixth.

Fort Bend ISD Athletics posted photos from the matchup on Tuesday evening, confirming the district contest at The Flagship.

Marshall's volleyball struggles stand in contrast to the school's broader athletic success. The Buffalos' girls track and field team won back-to-back UIL 5A state championships, a run that Fort Bend ISD Superintendent Dr. Marc Smith celebrated in May. Smith called the achievement "an incredible representation of Fort Bend ISD on the state stage."

The volleyball team still has district matches remaining to try to break into the win column. Dulles returns to 5A district action Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 5:30 p.m. against Almeta Crawford.
