Cars and motorcycles filled AlphaLand Gym in Missouri City on Saturday, Sept. 26, for the third annual End the Rage Run honoring Cody "CoJo" Johnson.
Johnson, 19, was shot and killed on Sept. 27, 2024, in what the Harris County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) has investigated as an apparent case of road rage. The memorial ride raised money for a scholarship in his name and carried a message against road rage violence.
A police-escorted procession carried participants from AlphaLand, at 1502 Industrial Drive, to Cycle Gear in Katy, retracing the route Johnson drove the night he was shot, KHOU 11 reported.
Investigators said Johnson had left a family member's home and was on his way to pick up his girlfriend when he was shot. He was found inside his black Chevrolet Camaro on the I-10 feeder road near Beltway 8 and Highway 99 in Katy. He was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he later died.
As of early 2025, no arrests had been reported in the case. The HCSO has not publicly updated the investigation status since.
The Cody Johnson Memorial Scholarship aims to go beyond traditional college tuition. Johnson's family has said they want it to help a recipient attend trade school, receive sales training or pursue another career path focused on building practical skills.
At a memorial bench dedication at AlphaLand in August 2025, Mike Johnson, Cody's father, told KHOU 11 that finding his son's killer remained important but was not the family's sole focus. "… The priority is to bring awareness, ending the road rage, ending the loss of the value in life," he said at the time.
Mike Johnson got a tattoo depicting Cody's car. Amy Juneau, Cody's mother, got a smaller version of a tattoo her son had on his arm.
The family said they plan to continue restoring the Camaro to where Cody wanted it.
A memorial bench featuring Johnson's likeness was unveiled at AlphaLand Gym in August 2025, on what would have been his 20th birthday.
A reward of up to $30,000 has been offered for information in the case. Anyone with tips can contact the HCSO Homicide Division at 713-274-9100 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
