Ridge Point climbed three spots to No. 8 in the Class 6A statewide football poll after beating Alvin Shadow Creek 28-7.

The Week 3 rankings from Dave Campbell's Texas Football, distributed by The Associated Press and published Monday, Sept. 7, moved the Panthers up from No. 11. Ridge Point (2-0) is now the highest-ranked Fort Bend County team in the state's largest classification.

Four Houston-area teams landed in the Class 6A top 10: Galena Park North Shore at No. 2, Katy at No. 7, Ridge Point at No. 8 and Cypress Ranch at No. 9.

Quarterback Brody Bartee, a Florida Atlantic commit in the class of 2027, has driven the Panthers' fast start. Through two games, Bartee has thrown for six touchdowns and zero interceptions while averaging 384 passing yards per game, according to TexasFootball.com's Week 2 analysis. He threw three touchdown passes in the Shadow Creek win after posting 417 yards and three scores in a Week 1 upset of Dickinson.

That Dickinson game was the first-ever DCTX Friday Night Football broadcast.

Carter Yates of TexasFootball.com wrote in a Sept. 6 recruiting report that Bartee made the largest jump of any Texas high school quarterback this offseason. TexasFootball.com's Week 2 analysis assessed Ridge Point's two-game résumé as rivaling Allen's for the most impressive in the state.

The Panthers' defense has been just as productive. Junior Khalen Taylor leads the unit with 3.5 sacks, part of a team total of 12.5 through three games, including a preseason contest, according to TexasFootball.com. Holding Shadow Creek to seven points carried extra weight: the Sharks had beaten preseason No. 5 Humble Summer Creek in Week 1 before falling to Ridge Point. TexasFootball.com noted the difficulty of limiting Shadow Creek's offense with players like Jaylen Addai, the son of Super Bowl-winning running back Joseph Addai, on the roster.

Shadow Creek dropped from No. 12 to No. 14 in the poll after the loss.

Wide receivers John Rangel and Suhaib Ramseur have emerged as key targets alongside Bartee, according to TexasFootball.com. The Panthers are 11-time district champions, per the program's social media profile.

Fort Bend Crawford also entered the statewide rankings, debuting at No. 10 in Class 5A Division II after a 48-16 win over Katy Freeman.

Ridge Point travels to Cypress Bridgeland on Thursday, Sept. 10.
