Ridge Point beat Clements 40-3 on Friday, Sept. 25, to stay unbeaten and extend its hold on first place in District 21-6A.
The Panthers improved to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in district play. They have outscored opponents 191-77 through five games under head coach Rick LaFavers, according to MaxPreps. Senior quarterback Brody Bartee, who threw for 2,098 yards and 26 touchdowns during the 2025 season, leads an offense that has scored at least 28 points in every game.
"The goal and focus are week by week," LaFavers said in a Sept. 16 season preview with the Houston Defender. "We must grow and develop week by week into the team I think we can be."
Elkins celebrates homecoming with district-opening win
Elkins beat Bush 24-6 at Ken Hall Stadium in the Knights' homecoming game, picking up their first district victory of the season. The win moved Elkins to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in district after a 1-3 nonconference start that included a 40-0 loss to Hightower on Sept. 17, according to MaxPreps.
The Knights have won two of their five games, both by double digits. Elkins travels to Fort Bend Travis on Friday, Oct. 2, for another district matchup.
Marshall grinds out road win at Victoria West
Fort Bend Marshall opened district play with a 15-8 road victory over Victoria West. The Buffalos, coached by Wale Okunnu, improved to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in district, according to MaxPreps.
The seven-point margin was the tightest of Marshall's three wins. The Buffalos' other victories came by 25 points over Ball and 29 over Dayton. Marshall hosts Terry on Thursday, Oct. 8, in its next district game.
Stafford drops second straight
Stafford fell to Silsbee 49-30 on the road, the Spartans' second consecutive loss after opening the season 3-0. Stafford now sits at 3-2 overall and has not yet begun district play, according to MaxPreps.
The Spartans allowed 91 points over their last two games, including a 42-14 loss to Hamshire-Fannett on Sept. 18. Stafford's district opener is Friday, Oct. 9, at home against Austin.
