Stafford Municipal School District's robotics team brought home three awards from a competition at NRG Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 12.

The team earned the Best Team: Inspire Team Spirit and Gracious Professionalism award, the 1st Finalist Alliance Captain award and 2nd Place Overall at the Viet Cultural Fest robotics challenge, the district announced on X on Monday, Sept. 14. Coaches from Stafford Middle School and Stafford STEM Magnet Academy led the team.


About 20 student teams raced to build and test a robot in six hours at the event, organized by Kids Robotic Foundation, according to a Community Impact preview.

In May 2026, the Spartans Smashers from Stafford STEM Magnet Academy competed in the finals of the World Robofest Championship in Detroit, facing teams from 17 countries and five U.S. cities. The district's robotics program spans kindergarten through 12th grade and has drawn more than $300,000 in grant funding.
