Trung Quang Ngo left his home to meet friends on Jan. 15, 2013, and never came back.
The 23-year-old electrician drove away in a gunmetal-gray 2004 Infiniti G35. More than 13 years later, neither Ngo nor his car has been found, and the Stafford Police Department case remains open.
KHOU reporter Holly Galvan covered the case on Tuesday, Sept. 1, as part of the station's "Texas Missing" series. Stafford police are the lead investigating agency and are still asking the public for help.
What investigators know
Ngo told his family he was going to meet friends, according to the KHOU report. His cellphone was later found along the roadside near Fry Road and Franz Road in Katy, close to the Farmington apartment complex. That area is believed to be his last known location.
His car carried Texas license plate BP2L036. It has not been recovered.
At the time he disappeared, Ngo lived with his brother and another roommate.
The Charley Project, a national missing-persons database, classifies Ngo's case as "Endangered Missing" and states that foul play is suspected and that he may have been taken against his will. That characterization has not been publicly attributed to a named Stafford police official.
The early search
In the days after Ngo vanished, Stafford police and the volunteer search organization Texas EquuSearch asked the public for help. Texas EquuSearch records show the initial search began Jan. 19, 2013, was suspended Jan. 20, 2013, and volunteers were called back by police on Jan. 26, 2013. Searchers focused on the area around Interstate 10 and Fry Road, with a command center at the Lowe's Home Improvement at 19935 Katy Freeway.
The search was suspended. Stafford police have not publicly announced new leads.
