Three men face aggravated robbery charges after a string of holdups that included an armed robbery on Highway 6 South.
The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office (FBCSO) announced the charges Tuesday, Sept. 8, linking the suspects to seven aggravated robberies across the Houston area.
Francisco Alexis Rosales-Puente, 22, and Ian Mohammed Dakkak, 19, each face aggravated robbery charges in Fort Bend County. Both remained in the Fort Bend County Jail on $300,000 bonds. Wilfredo Perez, 21, faces three counts of aggravated robbery in Harris County and was held on a $110,000 bond.
Six of the seven robberies happened from the evening of Thursday, Aug. 6, into Friday, Aug. 7, according to ABC13. Fort Bend County deputies responded Aug. 7 to a robbery at a food truck on Bellaire Boulevard and the armed robbery at a business on Highway 6 South.
Sheriff Eric Fagan said the suspects approached businesses unmasked, carrying a gun, and demanded cash. The suspects grabbed whatever was in registers, making off with only a few thousand dollars total, according to the sheriff's office. No one was injured.
Investigators later determined the two Fort Bend County incidents were connected to similar robberies being investigated by the Houston Police Department (HPD) and the Harris County Sheriff's Office (HCSO), according to KHOU. Surveillance video was a key part of linking the crimes across jurisdictions.
Rosales-Puente and Perez were arrested Aug. 18 with help from the Houston Police Tactical Surveillance Team and Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) investigators. Dakkak was arrested Sept. 1. Firearms and other evidence connected to the investigation were recovered during the arrests, authorities said.
"Violent offenders do not stop at jurisdictional boundaries, and neither will our efforts to hold them accountable," Fagan said in the FBCSO announcement.
"It's an ongoing investigation; right now we have three, there could be more," Fagan told ABC13 on Sept. 8, adding that other robbery victims may not have come forward.
The FBCSO said the investigation remains active. Residents with information about the robberies can contact the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office.
